Introduction
As
of now, the learner is not yet working in a teaching capacity. However, in the
future the learner hopes to become employed as a full time teacher in the state
of South Carolina. If employed the most important PLO would be PLO 3: Design
learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies
to support the needs of all learners. For the learner this PLO sums up the
basic needs of learners in today’s society. Creating lessons that involve the
use of technology can further stimulate the minds of students, helping them
achieve greater success. The article entitled, “Why Integrate Technology into the
Curriculum? The Reasons Are Many (2008)”
states;
Integrating
technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic computer
skills and software programs in a separate computer class. Effective tech
integration must happen across the curriculum in ways that research shows
deepen and enhance the learning process.
Order
of PLOs
The learner would then move on to
incorporate together PLO’s 1, 2, and 8. Each PLO states that learners should
demonstrate some knowledge or the ability related to learning or having skills
with technology. Being that technology is already apart of people’s everyday
life, many students should already be equipped to handle some form of
technology. These three applied together in a classroom setting can be used to
teach a lesson or applied together to present a presentation for work. These
three would be the next in line for the learner to work with. They will be easy
to incorporate and use for training purposes if necessary.
The last set for the learner would
be PLO’s 4, 6, and 7. This is due to the fact that applied together they can be
effective in figuring out what needs are being met and what needs are not. Educators
will be able to use the findings of these three PLO’s combined together to
produce the necessary processes to complete a body of work. PLO 4 states the
ability to apply research to support learning in a technology-enhanced
environment this incorporated with the findings of PLO 6 and 7 can produce
effective and efficient results for educators. Educators will be able to use
technologies to produce data that can be evaluated and used for educational
purposes. These findings can be used to produce test scores, educational
videos, anything that has to do with supporting learning through data analysis.
For the learner technology in
today’s society is so fundamental. The world is full of technologies that are
changing the way educators and students’ teach, learn, and grow. Technologies
have become so advanced that learning no longer has to take place in the
classroom, it can be done from the comforts of one’s home. Technology just as
anything else has its pros and cons. Some of its pros are the ease of access to
information, being able to use it for educational purposes, or being able to
communicate with others near and far. One of the biggest pros for the learner
that is associated with technology is that it can become a distraction to
learners and they may lose sight of the intended purpose of the technology.
When it comes to these PLO’s the learner feels that separating them to be used
one by one would be a way to overwork a student or the educator themselves.
This gives the educators the chance to dwell deeper into a subject.
Challenges
The
challenge associated with creating the ePortfolio was figuring out how to place
each paper in the order the correct order. I wanted my papers in order of where
I felt they were based on the PLO’s I chose them for. After trying and trying I
figured out how to place them and did so accordingly. The redesign process for
me gave me a chance to really see my highs and lows of writing. I did not
realize until I had to reevaluate my work, how many small errors can be made. I
worked with Jing for a while but really liked working with blogger. It really
gave me a chance to learn and grow using features of google. Overall my challenges
were fairly okay to deal with.
